[tweetmeme source=”LilBizBigWorld” only_single=false] Most small business owners who browse the web for new trends to improve their business have several web applications (web apps) for various purposes. There are web apps to improve your website, those used for improving content, those which enhances your website’s design, those you use to generate traffic and many more. A recent post from Small Business Trends, aptly titled 101 Small Business Web Applications You Must Check Out makes for a very  informative read and I must say, after reading it and going through the different web apps, I find myself thinking whether I am using the right ones for my business.

Whether you’re just starting out or have already been in business for years, you would feel that some administrative tasks may be better off delegated to someone else. Well, who could blame you? Your business may be flourishing or taking a slump but in any case, there are a lot of things and tasks you need to do first. And with the rising cost of everything else, it would be better if you find help with the least expense. Enter: web apps.

The question is, with web applications constantly being developed and released globally, how would you know which app works best for you? In my opinion, it all boils down to analyzing what your business really need and what you really want. You may consider installing a few web apps to help you out but before doing so, take a look at these pointers:

  • First Impressions – check whether the app you want to install is user-friendly or it needs a rocket-scientist to figure it out.
  • Navigation – Can you find things fairly easily?
  • Speed – This is somehow linked to navigation wherein you need to check if you would be able to know what  to do.
  • Reviews – Does members of the small business community have rave reviews for that particular app?
