Chasing the American Dream

[tweetmeme source=”LilBizBigWorld” only_single=false] The labor market still has not gotten over the recession. The unemployment rate is still high although it shows some development over the years. In the July employment poll by the National Federation of Independent Business, job creation may increase. Small businesses are the major source of jobs nowadays. However, because of the slow recovery of the economy, sales are weak and the result? Most small businesses are on the conservative side when it comes to hiring more people.

In reality, owning or operating a small business is the real American dream. It should not matter where you are from or who you are, if you have what it takes (otherwise known as the entrepreneurial spirit) there’s no stopping you from succeeding. There are a lot of reasons why big companies start to downsize but at least small businesses make up for it by generating more jobs. Where there’s an increase of people opening their own small business, there would be more job openings which in turn would be beneficial to the country’s economy.

If you feel that you are seriously over qualified for the menial post you are holding right now, don’t fret. There are a lot of people out there who are feeling the same way. In fact, most successful entrepreneurs today felt the same way at one point in their lives. Instead of wallowing however, they did something about it which is why they are where they are today. Fact is, you need to “do” before you can “be”. The question is: when will you start?
