Developing Policies For Your Small Business

[tweetmeme source=”LilBizBigWorld” only_single=false] No matter how small your business is, implementing policies should never be overlooked. Your business policies would serve as a guide, a how-to manual for certain scenarios and tasks. With a complete set of specific policies and manuals, you would be able to operate your business with competency and efficiency. There are three (3) kinds of manuals that every business should not be without. The procedures manual, policies manual and the employee handbook.

While the kinds of manuals are self-explanatory, there are some tips from SCORE to aid entrepreneurs on what tips to follow in developing such policies. For every kind of manual that you need to prepare, you have to make a forecast of what might happen so that you could cover it. You need to think outside the box. Thinking that nothing would go wrong in your business is wishful thinking. I am not being a pessimist, just a realist. Without a plan in place, you might face seemingly insurmountable problems especially if it’s  a startup business. You need to be organized and prepared for any situation that may arise and creating a system of policies and procedures would head you off to a great start.
